There are many methods of dog training at home or puppy training available now. People often find it difficult to choose the right method to train their puppy. Obedience training is the most commonly used method. This home dog training enables the dog to obey certain instructions given by the owner and do some specific activities. This training is quick and produces accurate results. The obedience training also teaches the dog to obey basic commands like sit, stay and heel.

The criticism on obedience training is that the dog will not have the ability to do things appropriately. The dog will wait for the instruction from the owner to perform all activities. The puppies will have their own behavioral pattern by birth or breed. It is not possible to overcome these basic instincts even if the dog is subjected to obedience training. Behavior training is another method used which includes house training, crate training and leash training. This training begins with potty training. The leash training will enable the dog to behave properly when taken outside. Unnecessary barking of the dog is controlled as part of behavioral training.

Activity training gives more importance in performing activities in the correct way. The dogs are trained to perform some specific activities. This enables the dogs to be used in police departments as search and rescue dogs. People used to hunting often train their dogs as a companion. These dogs will help them to find out wild animals and retrieve the catch. Ranchers often use their dogs to protect and herd their cattle.

You can also train your dog to fetch a thrown away ball as a game while Dog training at home. Games like Frisbee and obstacle courses are other activities that provide entertainment to both the dog and the owner. Instead of choosing one method it is better to combine different methods to train your dog. This will give more chance to concentrate on all behaviors on the dog.
