In the Home dog training process you must give more importance to the mental aspects of the dog and its owner. The dog must feel confident and happy in obeying your instructions. You should be very tentative in handling the issues. Motivation, consistency and reinforcement are the three main factors that have to be given more importance while training a dog.

You should always be consistent in using the signals for communicating to the dog. This will eliminate the possibility of confusion in the mind of the dog. You have to apply reinforcement to a large extent when training new things to the dog. Motivation is necessary for the dog to learn things more quickly and accurately. You have to encourage the dog with praises and treats to make it motivated. The dog will then be more willing to obey your Dog training commands. You should not force to do things. It will create negative impact in the dog’s mind and will soon start to resist. You cannot command obedience from the dog unless it is willing. You should always start training the dogs from the basics. As the mental capability of the dog raises to understand your commands, you can go for advanced dog training methods.

Toys are commonly used effectively to motivate dogs. Games and exercises can be employed to divert the high energy reserve of the dog. Agility and fly ball are dog sports that give great pleasure for the dogs. Dogs like foods but it is advisable to not use it for motivation since the dog become more dependent on foods.

Clickers can be used for reinforcing the behavior of dogs. This gives an opportunity for the dog to identify and respond to commands without delay. The usage of clickers will eliminate the need of your presence in front of the dog.

Home Dog Training sessions must be entertaining for the dog. This will encourage the dog to obey your commands and learn new things quickly.

The presence and affection of dog will give great mental satisfaction and relief to a person. A puppy will grow into an adult dog in a short time. The behavior of the dog like licking or jumping into the body will turn troublesome as the dog grows physically big. So you should train the dog to behave properly when it is a puppy.

Puppies have an ability to learn things quickly since they have not developed any behavioral pattern. You cannot blame dog for its bad behaviors if you have not trained it in the earlier stages. Earlier dogs were trained only after six months. But at this age it would have learned certain things and will be difficult to change all together. They will be reluctant to obey our commands and turn hostile to training.

Now more professional methods are employed to train dogs. Trainers are more comfortable with puppies of eight to ten weeks old. They can be easily put into socialization and basic command training at this age.

Trainers no longer use any force or punishments in their approach to training. Such traditional methods will create a negative impact on the dogs. Puppies are trained to relax, greet others politely, behave properly on a leash and obey basic commands.

The dog owners are also no willing to actively participate in dog training. This has a great positive impact on the character of the dog. Many psychological studies are now conducted to understand the behavior of animals and these ideas are effectively applied to train dogs.
Clicker and luring training are two methods now widely used to train dogs :

  • In clicker training a clicking sound is used to teach dogs the basic commands for sitting, coming etc.
  • In luring toys or praises are offered to dogs when they obey commands.
